About us

“Paper Planes” is inspired by a personal story— left Asia around 2015 seeking for a brighter future in Norway. I left my then 5-year old son, leaving him behind paper planes and a heartfelt promise—a promise of a better life. Eight years later, we felt the need to acknowledge our appreciation for our heritage, the land that shaped our identity. To honor our past, and to celebrate the bond between mothers, sons, and daughters who have embarked on similar paths, we created something truly special—a collection of candles infused with the essence of our Asian roots.

With each scent, memories awaken, transporting us back to the bustling streets, the vibrant markets, and the warm embrace of loved ones left behind. It's a scent that captures the essence of our journey, where traditions meet new beginnings.

The name “Paper Planes” is a symbol of the sacrifices made and the desire of a brighter future. It resonates with a lot of immigrants around the world who have had to separate from their loved ones in pursuit of a better life.

My son and I have now reunited in the northern region of Norway where we hand pour our soy wax candles. We have been happily living here for 8 years as Norwegian nationals. Our candles are hand-poured in the beautiful region of northern Norway.

Our Mission

Through our social media platforms, we aim to provide a supportive community where individuals can share their stories, find solace, and collectively navigate the complexities of migratory grief. It represents the shared experiences of many others who have embarked on similar paths, carrying hopes, dreams, and a longing for connection across borders.

In the future, our objective is to venture into scents inspired by diverse cultures, allowing us to honor various traditions from around the world. We hope to evoke memories of home through the scents we create—the beautiful smell of your grandmother’s garden, the boba shop where you used to hang-out with your friends, the snack you got one hot afternoon…

We are making an effort to reduce our ecological footprint by using ecological friendly packaging. We use ecological soy wax, hand poured in small batches. On top of that, we use paraben-free and phthalate-free scents.
